Allround’s winning streak
continues: the company has received the IT-BUSINESS Leadership Award 2006 issued
by Hungary’s leading IT magazine IT Business. Allround has won in the Product
Development category.
The IT-BUSINESS Leadership Award is an
appreciation of innovative solutions that cost-effectively improve a company's
working processes and everyday operations, thereby setting an example for other
market players to follow.
This award is yet another acknowledgement for
Allround in 2006 following our honorable mention at the Hungarian Innovation
Awards and the winning of the World Billing Awards.
Mobile Number Portability at T-Mobile Slovensko a.s.
T-Mobile-Slovensko a.s., one of
Allround’s longest established clients outside Hungary selected Allround to
prepare its Fraud Detection
System for introducing Mobile Number Portability. Number Portability (NP)
makes it possible for subscribers to keep their original phone numbers when
switching carriers. NP is a solution favored by the authorities of the European
Union in the interest of stimulating competition in the telecommunications
market. In addition to wire line services, it was introduced in Slovakia to
benefit mobile phone subscribers as well.
Allround’s Fraud Detection
system has been operational since 1997 and works to the complete satisfaction of
the client ever since. When given the task to prepare FDS for MNP, the
experience gained during a similar project at T-Mobile Hungary served as a good
starting point.
The tasks related to the preparation could be divided
into two groups:
• Correct handling of subscribers. By law, all
subscribers have to be handled equally, ported subscribers incur no additional
charges.
• Correct pricing of call records. The call records have to be
priced correctly, whether ported numbers are involved or not, in order to
calculate the correct fraud risk levels. For this function determining the
direction of the calls is essential.
T-Mobile Slovensko, a.s. is a
leading telecommunications company in the Slovak Republic offering both mobile
telecommunications services and managed data network services. The company’s GSM
and NMT mobile networks cover approximately 99% of the Slovak Republic’s 5.4
million population.
Magyar Telekom and Allround win World Billing Awards
The joint application of Magyar Telekom’s T-Com business line and
Allround has won the World Billing Awards 2006 in the Best Revenue
Assurance/Management Project category. The winners have been announced at the
Billing and Information Management Systems 2006 Gala Dinner on Thursday 8th June
2006.
“We are delighted to acknowledge the T-Com / Magyar Telekom /
Allround project as winner in the ‘Best Revenue Assurance / Revenue Management’
category.” said Hugh Roberts, Chairman of the Awards Judging Panel and
Consultant Director for IIR’s BSS/OSS and RM events, “All of us were impressed
by the proactive approach based on stability testing that was adopted, and also
by the honesty demonstrated in both relationships and reporting structures that
is clearly important for real long term benefits to accrue.”
After a remarkably successful year,
2006 is shaping up to be an even better one for Allround. Two major roaming
tender wins and selection for the World Billing Awards 2006 mark the
achievements of the past months.
We are proud to announce that Magyar
Telekom and Allround have been selected as finalists for the prestigious World
Billing Awards in the Best Revenue Assurance/Management Project category. The
success story of this project and the new methodology behind it are discussed in
more detail in our Stability Testing insert.
Along with the stories of
the tender wins we follow up on our article in the February edition on Traffic
Data Retention by dedicating a special insert to this topic to dig a little
deeper to find out what operators are faced with in the near feature.
And
finally you might realize that something is a little bit different about CeDaR
News this time. We truly hope you will like the new look and continue to enjoy
reading it!

Partnership agreement signed with Revector
Allround enjoyed
a highly successful 3GSM World Congress 2006 as an exhibitor at the Hungarian
National Stand. Continuing its global expansion, Allround has signed several
partnership agreements at the show to boost our global presence and help to meet
our aggressive sales targets in 2006. One of our new partners is Revector from
the UK, the company’s CEO Andy Gent stated: “It was good to see the continual
development of new and innovative products at the GSM conference in Barcelona.
Allround’s suite of products compliments Revector’s GSM Gateway Bypass solutions
and detection expertise and these will bring an added dimension to our clients

Traffic Data Retention - New legal requirements
In order to help prevention, investigation and
detection of serious crimes, the availability of traffic data of electronic
communications is becoming more and more essential. As a milestone in this
process and an indication of a developing global trend, the European Parliament
adopted on 14 December 2005 the Commission’s proposal for a directive, which
provides an EU-wide harmonization of the obligations on providers of publicly
available electronic communications, or a public telecommunications network, to
retain data related to mobile and fixed telephony and IP traffic and make
available for competent national authorities. See our diagram below for the
future agenda of the whole process.
Every telecom
operator and internet service provider will be submitted to new compulsory
requirements, meeting them will be inevitable. The storage of traffic data shall
not be confused with the storage of records for billing or other business
purposes, the aspect of collection and security requirements is different. To
react properly to the new demands, being prepared is essential.
Late or
improper compliance can:
- Damage the operator’s reputation and its
subscriber’s loyalty
- Endanger co-operation with local authorities
-
Result in non-realistic technical regulations
- Limit the financing and
reimbursing opportunities
On the other hand, a well-prepared operator can
avoid these risks and in addition, can derive business benefits from the new
system. Allround believes that the best way to comply is to adapt a
cost-efficient solution, which brings you favorable technical and financial
conditions and improves your image in the eye of your customers and
regulators.
Don’t forget, tomorrow comes early! Allround helps you to be
prepared, and act in time.
Allround the number one supplier of
testing solutions has now opened its high quality training programme to all
experts and decision makers who have to deal with daily testing routines amongst
the billions of CDRs they create every year. Previously these courses were only
open to existing customers of Allround whilst they are now open to all with an
interest in testing of billing systems
Allround have been operating
successful courses for more than ten years from its Budapest headquarters to
many of the world's leading mobile operators.
Allround courses are
developed by professionals of the billing systems testing industry and are
tailored for experienced and new users to the testing environment. Each of the
courses is run in a small friendly environment with the opportunity to bring up
real life problems.
During 2006Q1 the focus is on billing system
testing. Though the courses are partially related to Allround solutions they
include essential Billing Systems Testing information vital to all persons
involved in the testing procedures or new to testing. A comprehensive training
programme was worked out including two courses for technical experts of testing
methods and tools.
The first two courses
are designed for experts in testing. The expectations and benefits regarding
testing from a business point of view are presented in the third course
especially for decision makers of the area.
The new series of courses
include the Allround experience which includes night time in Budapest and run
for two days covering Thursday and Friday on location in Budapest,
Hungary.

Second
quarter seminars will discuss "Changes in EU legislation including new legal
requirements", targeting both technical and business level. Third quarter
trainings will concentrate on roaming.
As 2005 was a remarkably successful
year for Allround, we thought it would be a good idea to look back and sum up
what we achieved last year before 2006 gets into full swing. But we don’t just
dwell on the past we look into the future as well and we also present our plans
for this year.
Our testing solutions have become essential tools for
multi-level convergence – be it fixed to mobile, post- to pre-paid or data to
voice – in the most intense stages of integration. CeDaR, the world’s first
billing system testing solution approved by BABT, had also a great year. See our
special inserts on CeDaR’s new clients T-Com and Vimpelcom and the BABT
Attestation.
The importance of roaming revenues continued to grow last
year and Allround played an active role in this field. Our roaming solutions are
still one of their kind, in our article we discuss how diverse they are by
examining two different implementations at MobiNil and Mascom.
As for
2006, we have launched our Allround Seminars programme for the year with
trainings on billing system testing, legal requirements and roaming. We also
examine a developing new trend concerning Traffic Data Retention, which could be
a hot topic in the near future. And as February is the month when the mobile
industry traditionally meets, we would like to kindly invite you to our stand in
Barcelona. See you at the Hungarian National stand in Hall 2, G64!
We are
looking forward to meeting you in Barcelona!
ALLROUND is now inviting
business partners from around the world to join us as we expand into new
markets. If you or your firm have a proven record in mobile communications and
are interested in representing ALLROUND please contact us at:
