- CeDaR for Telecom Operators is a range of software products and services,
from a full-featured TAP 3 Browser through to a high volume test usage data generator with full analysis features.
- CeDaR is a powerful application that provides telecom operators with the
ability to easily handle any Call Detail Record (CDR and xDR) processing tasks.
- As a CDR editor, analyzer, and generator tool, CeDaR enables telecom
operators to load, filter, view, edit, create or generate CDRs for testing
purposes or to run them as part of their production system.
- CeDaR is a highly flexible application that handles both sequential and
ASN.1 formats (TAP, NRTRDE, GPRS, MMS, IN, etc.).
- CeDaR writes records exactly as a switch would write them and provides an
overall solution for CDR processing problems.
- CeDaR is the world's first billing system testing solution approved by BABT
- CeDaR won the IIR world Billing Award 2006 in Revenue Assurance / Management Project with T-Com Hungary for the Stability Testing product
CeDaR has 3
editions tailored to the different needs of our clients.
CeDaR will
allow you to:
Gain control over the
entire CDR lifecycle
Believe it or not, at least a quarter of a
Telecom Operator's monthly revenue relies on data their experts never
see!
Their Call Detail Records are created by MSCs, GPRS nodes, and other
network devices, existing in different vendor specific formats within complex
internal structures. Billing for post-paid subscribers is based on the price of
their calls as calculated by the Rating module of the Customer Care and Billing
System (CCBS), which is usually developed by a third-party software house. When
a switch vendor changes a CDR format, modifications must be made to the CCBS.
The CCBS supplier usually carries out this work but they must rely on the
information provided by the switch vendor. In short, the Telecom Operator is at
the mercy of its CCBS supplier and their ability to work with and understand the
changes introduced by the switch vendor.
Complex CDRs require
sophisticated software tools even for the simplest tasks, such as displaying
their contents. In-house development of application software to do this kind of
work is time consuming and of course depends on Telecom Operators having
programmers who are both skilled and available for such work. Even with
competent programmers available there is rarely enough time to keep up with fast
and frequent changes in network devices. The CeDaR application suite can provide
every Telecom Operator with the best solution to this problem. CeDaR lets you
view, edit, process, create and generate CDRs. With CeDaR you can write CDRs
exactly as an MSC or other device writes them. Furthermore, with CeDaR, new CDR
format updates are included as part of the annual support service. These
features provide Telecom Operators with the best guarantee for revenue control
and revenue assurance.
Shorten time-to-market
Introducing a
new device, service or software version in your network often means changes in
Call Detail Records. Usually the exact CDR format is known early on but few test
records are available and these come from other networks or the vendor's
environment, hence they are rejected by your billing system. Therefore real IT
development for such new technologies usually begins only after they are already
up and running. This can result in serious delays and lost revenue. This
time-lag can be shortened by using CeDaR, which enables Telecom Operators to
create or customize CDRs in the same format as the new device, service or
software will write them. Telecom Operators are able to start mediation or
billing system development and testing earlier with completion before the new
technology is added to their network. The result is zero time-lag and no lost
revenue.
CeDaR is also a design and specification tool ideal for use when
beginning the development of a new service such as an Intelligent Network (IN).
CeDaR designs and documents the layout, fields and possible values in CDRs and
creates test records for the billing system vendor - long before the new service
is introduced. Independently, a CeDaR Utility can be deployed to convert the CDR
changes until the billing system vendor is ready with the new version.
Ensure and maintain in-house
competence
CDR handling requires telecommunication and IT
competence. Getting to know the networks, devices, services and information
contained in CDRs, as well as the development and programming methodologies to
decode them, takes a long time and requires special skills. Furthermore,
maintaining this knowledge in a fast changing world is difficult and time
consuming.
CeDaR can be used without programming knowledge to manage any
kind of CDR (MSC, SMSC, TAP, etc.). CeDaR masks the internal CDR coding
complexity and provides an easy to use graphical user interface that reveals CDR
information only as deep as your current task requires.
Finally, CeDaR is
also a good teaching aid and documentation tool for learning about CDRs and CDR
processing.
Maximize Revenue, Minimize Leaks, and Improve
Quality
Without CeDaR it is difficult to thoroughly test your
billing system. Randomly selected subscriber calls do not ensure a comprehensive
testing of a Telecom Operator's systems and tariffs. Test calls and automatic
call generators cannot provide enough data, particularly as the whole process
must be repeated at every testing interval.
CeDaR is a high performance
test-CDR generator, though it does not test the network by making real calls, it
tests the entire CDR lifecycle- from switch through to rating, mediation and
billing system. Telecom Operators can generate huge numbers of test CDRs with
just a few mouse clicks. Consider multiplying one outgoing call for all the
countries around the world, then these by the number of possible billing
scenarios.
Within seconds, CeDaR can write this entire test suite of CDRs,
exactly in the same format as they would be written from an MSC for example. To
separate real and test data, a "Digital Watermark" can be applied to all
test-CDRs to ensure they are uniquely identifiable and cannot be confused with
actual CDRs.
With CeDaR it is easy to build up a test set of CDRs -
numbering millions - that consist of both real and algorithmically generated
calls. You can also use CeDaR to regularly change dates in CDRs according to
your bill cycles. By processing these CDRs and comparing the results to previous
runs a Telecom Operator can quickly and easily identify any differences. CeDaR
also provides flexible statistical features to identify any kind of loss or
misinterpretation of CDRs in the mediation device or billing system.
